Louis Wayne Deatherage

Louis Wayne Deatherage passed away in Stuart, Oklahoma on Monday, December 18, 2017, at the age of 83 years. Louis was the son of Everett and Myrtle (Frazier) Deatherage born on October 8, 1934, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in Pampa, Texas. Wayne lived for many years in Fritch, Texas where he worked as a drip truck driver for Enron Gas Company. He was married to Mary Juanita Latham on June 22, 1980, in Fritch, Texas. They lived seventeen years near Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, Texas, before moving to Oklahoma in 2000 to a farm near the Hilltop community east of Calvin. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Stuart, Oklahoma. He worked as a cattle rancher and mill wright foreman. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and discussing politics. He was a airplane pilot and enjoyed playing and singing country music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Myrtle Deatherage, wife Mary Deatherage, grandson Johnathon Deatherage, sister Joyce Stokes.
Survivors include children Steve Deatherage of Russellville, Arkansas, Dean Deatherage of Fritch, Texas, David Deatherage of Stuart, stepchildren Gail Smith of Gulf of Mexico, Jerry Hendershot of Dear Park, Texas, Jackie Wilkins of Amarillo, Texas, granddaughters Kathryn Lovelady, Tava Deatherage, and Sharon Jennings that he raised as his own, numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Sonny Deatherage, sisters Wanda Mulanax, Carline Elmore and Cheryl Tucker as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Stuart. Chris Rampey will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Will West, Terry Trivitt, Wes Lindley, Jack Chapman, Ethan Campbell and Bill San Millian. Wayne will be laid to rest in the Hilltop Cemetery near Calvin. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Oklahoma.
