Willa Mae (Boyce) McClure
Willa Mae (Boyce) McClure, aged 75, went home to be with the Lord the evening of June 9th, 2017 while at home in Calvin, Oklahoma. She was born May 2, 1942 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Bill and Ruth Boyce and was raised on a farm in Calvin. She graduated from Calvin High School as Valedictorian in 1960 and continued her education at Oklahoma State University. While there she met and married the love of her life, Samuel A. McClure. They married June 10th,1962 and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Willa Mae and Sam had four children, Samuel, Elisabeth, Melanie, and Matt.
Willa Mae completed her degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma State University and later obtained a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from East Central University. She spent 36 years in education, with the majority of those years as an Elementary and High school counselor for Holdenville Schools.
Willa Mae was a Christian who gave her heart to Jesus as a teenager and lived to honor the Lord according to His Word. She was a Godly role model for her children and a faithful helpmate to her husband.
After retirement from education in 2005, Willa Mae opened a produce stand, Granny’s Garden, where she sold local and Oklahoma raised produce. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Calvin and was an auxiliary member of Gideons International.
Willa Mae is survived by her husband Samuel A. McClure of the home; son Samuel McClure Jr. of Norman, OK and his wife Lori and their children Harrison and Molly; daughter Elisabeth (McClure) Schoenecke of Branson, MO and her husband Marvin and their children Daniel, Andrew and Jessica; daughter Melanie (McClure) Kates of Newcastle, OK and her husband Chris and their children Carsten, Will, and Katelyn; son Matt McClure of Tulsa, OK and his wife Melissa and their children Lily Faye and Maven. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn (Boyce) Loyless, niece and nephews, and numerous relatives.
Services will be held at the Calvin High School auditorium on June 13th, 2017 at 2:00pm. Graveside service will follow at the Calvin Cemetery.
