Arthur E. ‘Eddie’ Carter

Arthur E. ‘Eddie’ Carter passed away at his home in Lamar, Oklahoma on Sunday evening, June 18, 2017, at the age of 66 years.
Eddie was the son of Andrew & Dorothy (Tripp) Carter, born on May 23, 1951 in Wellsville, New York. His family moved to Oklahoma when he was a young boy. He was brought up and attended schools in the Spaulding community, and graduated Holdenville High School in 1969. He worked for several years as an auto mechanic, and then went to work at Tinker Air Force Base in 1984, retiring after 30 years in 2014. He married Ruby Faye (Robison) Crawford on April 25, 1985, at the First Baptist Church in Dustin, Oklahoma. They lived in Shawnee from 1985 to 1997 and then moved to Lamar, their home for the past twenty years. Eddie loved fishing, camping, and reading Western books, particularly Louis L’Amour westerns.
He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Carter, and one brother-in-law, Lester Bryant.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruby, of the home; two sons, Buster Crawford (Haley) of Horntown, and Jesse Brown of Lamar; grandchildren: Kallie Crawford, MaKayla Crawford, Savannah Brown, Ty Brown, Clea Brown, and Zander Brown; his mother, Dorothy Carter of Spaulding; three sisters: Janice Bryant of Wewoka, Joetta Wood (Barry) of Yeager, and Brenda Sneed (Ricky) of Little; two brothers, Donnie Carter (June) of Spaulding, and Tony Carter (Laura) of Newalla; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Graveside services will be held and Eddie will be laid to rest at Lamar Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, with Rev. Danny Fisher officiating. Pallbearers are Steve Bryant, James Bryant, Bronc Bryant, Gabe Carter, Luke Wood, Josh Wood, Bobby Sneed, Clifton Sneed, Zac Carter, and Michael Carter. Honorary pallbearers are David ‘Hot’ Hodges, Tony Carter, Donnie Carter, Barry Wood, John Goodson, Everett Bagley, Dennie Sayres, and Mikey Freeman.
Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
