Brandon Clark Miller

Brandon Clark Miller passed away at his home in Holdenville, Oklahoma early Thursday morning, May 25, 2017, at the age of 35 years.

Brandon was the son of Tommy Dale Miller & Judy Nell (Appleton) Miller, born on February 22, 1982, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In Brandon’s early years, the family moved to Byng and then to Latta, where his teenage years were spent . He attended Latta High School and East Central University in Ada. He worked several years for IQOR in Ada.

Brandon married Elizabeth Jayne Odum on June 26, 2015, in Ada, and they made their home in Holdenville. The time they had together ended all too soon, but they filled those brief two years  with countless beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

Brandon was handsome and friendly, a courteous and congenial man. He believed life was best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, and possessed a keen appreciation for the small things. He loved conversation, and had a way with words. He was soft-spoken and articulate, poetic and witty, interested in everything, knowledgeable about many things, and a great conversationalist. He had an extensive memory and could quote statistics and famous sayings, or entertain and educate the kids with facts about various species of sharks; but what he enjoyed studying and discussing most was the Bible. He had an intimate knowledge of the scriptures, and could always cite chapter and verse for any subject he referred to. His love for the Word of God was evident.

He enjoyed fishing and shooting guns. He liked experimenting in the kitchen, and he was a great cook. He loved music and enjoyed playing piano, but what brought him pure joy was his guitar. He didn’t exactly write music, but he did make up love songs for his wife and put his heart into singing them to her, accompanied by his guitar. From sweet and serious worship songs that he softly sang – sometimes in the Hebrew language –  along with Liz, to his solo threat “I will rock your face off”, that guitar brought hours of enjoyment to Brandon, and often to many of his family and friends.

There were times in his younger years when poor choices landed Brandon in a little trouble, and he used those times to change direction and help inspire others to do the same. He worked hard and overcame difficult obstacles to earn his ministerial credentials, something he considered one of the proudest achievements of his life. His greatest treasure was his family. More than anything, he loved his wife and children, his extended family, and his many friends. He will be missed every day by those who loved him dearly, whose daily lives he shared, by friends who knew him well, and by other friends who were looking forward to knowing him better. By everyone who knew him, he will be remembered always.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Bessie Bryant, Virgil Appleton, and Joy Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; three children: Haleigh Miller of Byng, Samuel Stallcup and Zachary Stallcup, of the home; his parents, Tommy & Judy Miller of Latta; paternal grandfather Tom Miller, of Ada; sister Gina Johnson of Byng, stepsisters Michelle Smith and Brittany Miller, both of Ada, and sisters Amanda, Robin, Melodi, and Geni; parents-in-law Mark & Sandy Odum of Holdenville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Natania & Jay Darnell of Belden MS, and brother-in-law Nathaniel Odum of Holdenville; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Grace Church in Holdenville, and Brandon was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Fisher was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were David Odum, Jon Barksdale, Aaron Odum, Nathaniel Odum, Jay Darnell, Robert Archer, Garrett Raney, and Jeremy Smith.
