Christopher Lee Hartsfield
December 23, 1948 – March 22, 2017
Christopher Lee Hartsfield, 68, of Sasakwa, OK, passed away March 22, 2017 in Bay City, TX. He was born December 23, 1948 in Fresno, California to Ervin Lee Hartsfield and Ruby Bernice Carrol Hartsfield.
A musician, singer and keyboardist of Country and Classic Rock with the family band, Chris later turned his singing to the Lord. He started truck driving in 2002 and enjoyed traveling and seeing the beauty of God’s country. His CB handle was “Highstepper” for the years he spent at drywall, a family trade for over 30 years. He could walk, run and dance on his high stilts. He loved laughing and making others laugh. When at home, he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who called him “Papa Duck” because he could talk like Yakky Doodle. Every year he would call and sing Happy Birthday to each family member in ‘duck talk’. This was very special for the grandchildren. Throughout his life, was the love and care of his family. This enhanced when he found the Lord, and at the end, he told his family to be ready and voiced his readiness to be with the Lord.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents; son Brian Evan Lee Hartsfield; sister Ruby Sue Hartsfield and brothers, William Abner and Patrick Kelly Hartfield. He is survived by his wife Vencie Yeager Hartsfield; daughters Donna Nowlin (David) and Christina Dull (Phillip); brothers Leon, Ervin, Donald Ray and Douglas Hartsfield; 8 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
